The Opera School motto in Latin is ‘Nihil tumultus tantum opera’ which translated is ‘Minimum fuss, maximum work’ and the New Zealand Kokako is chosen for the logo because it has beautiful, clear, organ-like song. It can carry over great distances. Every Kokako population has its own distinctive song a phenomenon which many consider analogous to human dialects Wanganui Opera Week

The New Zealand Opera School is supported on the ground by Wanganui Opera Week

Wanganui Opera Week committee's role is to promote both locally in Wanganui and nationally, the public events of the school. They also ensure the smooth running of those events, look after the sponsors and assist the Director of the school where needed.
Wanganui Opera Week is now a hugely successful annual event which attracts visitors from all over New Zealand, who truly appreciate the valued work of the highly reputable tutors, répétiteurs and emerging opera stars.
