The Opera School motto in Latin is ‘Nihil tumultus tantum opera’ which translated is ‘Minimum fuss, maximum work’ and the New Zealand Kokako is chosen for the logo because it has beautiful, clear, organ-like song. It can carry over great distances. Every Kokako population has its own distinctive song a phenomenon which many consider analogous to human dialects Exercising at the New Zealand Opera School
 

Daily Schedules

Each day the School has a format which includes Stagecraft; Individual Lessons; Coaching

To ensure every student gets a fair and even allocation of time with our world-class tutors we run a daily timetable which must be flexible enough to accommodate special events such as public performances.  

A standard day would look like this:

7:00am Morning walk or other supervised exercise
7:30am Breakfast
9:00am Stagecraft - for all students
11:00am Individual lessons and tutorials
1:15pm Lunch
2:30pm Individual lessons and tutorials
6:00pm Dinner
7:30pm Evening Masterclass - all students to attend
9:45pm Close of teaching day
